Belonging to the beetle family, weevils can come in varying shapes, sizes and colors. Most are either slender or oval-shaped, ranging from 3-10 mm and dark brown to black in color. The main way to identify these pests is by their head shape – weevils’ heads elongate into a snout that is sometimes as long as the rest of its body.
Weevils primarily eat plant life, making them more common outdoors, in gardens and parks. However, some eat grains and seeds as well, making them particularly destructive if they get into pantries. These pests are typically active during the summer and fall, and will invade a building in large numbers if they gain entry. Many property owners have discovered hundreds of these pests moving in to their buildings overnight.
